Great Britain has had a bit of a rough go so far at the 2012 London games. The home country came through with a big win Tuesday, however, when the Queen’s granddaughter Zara Phillips and her British equestrian teammates took the silver in eventing. (GB has four medals now, but no golds.)
Phillips knocked down a fence during showjumping, but her three teammates were able to overcome the mishap en route to a second place finish.
Phillips becomes the first member of the Royal Family to win an Olympic medal.
Her mother, Princess Anne, also competed in equestrian during the 1976 Montreal games but didn’t medal. Her father, Mark Phillips, won gold in eventing in Munich in 1972 before he married into royalty.
