New York Yankees president Randy Levine called 2011 a failure a day after the team lost to the Tigers in the ALDS.”We are the Yankees,” he told ESPN today. “That is the way The Boss set it up. When you don’t win the World Series, it is a bitter disappointment and not a successful year.”

The Yankees won an AL-best 97 games, and were the odds-on favourite to represent the American League in the World Series.

Levine has a number of decisions to make this offseason, including resigning GM Brian Cashman and possibly reworking the contract of ace pitcher C.C. Sabathia.
