After getting ejected for aggressively arguing against a called third strike, Molina made contact with umpire Rob Drake and spit in his face.
Molina said that whatever moisture hit Drake in the face was unintentional.
“I would never spit on any face of a man. That’s not me. I was so sweaty, my face was so sweaty and I was yelling, yelling at him. I would never spit on anybody’s face.”
Expect to see Molina receive a multi-game suspension and a hefty fine. In similar instances of umpire “bumping”, players like Carl Everett and Pete Rose were rewarded with suspensions that lasted 10 and 30 games respectively.
