If you’ve ever been frustrated that your bus turns up late, you’re not alone.
The SMH reports that a staggering 600 services ran late during peak hours over two recent weeks.
Evening peak hour is the worst time for tardy buses, with 4.3% of Sydney trips running 10 or more minutes late during the period.
On the worst routes, over a four-month period, 20% of buses was 20 minutes or more late.
NSW Transport collated data on the most unreliable bus routes in Sydney, judging by how many total buses on the route were 10 minutes or more late during morning and evening peak hour from June 26 – 29, and July 2 – 4.
The 370 bus from Leichhardt to Coogee was deemed the most unreliable bus route, with more than 500 complaints about the line in the year to June 2016, according to figures obtained by Fairfax Media.
It was late in the morning peak hour 123 times, and 156 times in evening peak hour.
The NSW government recently privatised inner-west region buses, arguing it was done in a bid to improve service delivery.
The second worst bus was the 400 from Bondi Junction to Burwood via Eastgardens and the airport, with 67 buses late in the AM peak hour, and 107 late in the PM peak hour.
The M92 from Sutherland to Parramatta came next, then the M91 from Hurstville to Parramatta via Padstow and Chester Hill, the M20 from Botany to Gore Hill, and the 343 from Kingsford to Chatswood.
Data released by NSW Transport reveals that most bus services in the Sydney region fell below appointed KPIs for running on time.
