A 37-year-old Pennsylvania woman is suing the beloved Phillie Phanatic for a poolside incident in 2010 that allegedly left her with permanent injuries.According to the plaintiff, Suzanne Pierce, she suffered “severe and permanent injuries” after the Phanatic threw her into a pool at a hotel in Avalon, NJ.
Her alleged injuries include a herniated disk, internal injuries and mental anxiety, the Press of Atlantic City reports.
She says she now walks with a cane.
The suit names the Philadelphia Phillies, various people who may have been in the suit at the time, and the Jersey shore hotel where the incident occurred in the suit.
“We don’t believe the Phanatic engaged in any wrongful behaviour,” a team spokesman said.
