The First Apps You Must Download For Windows 8

Microsoft released the consumer preview for Windows 8 yesterday amongst high anticipation and expectations. This may be the largest product Microsoft has ever released.One new feature of Windows 8 is an app store.

The app store is still very much in development, but there are a few apps for early users to check out. An added bonus is that for now, everything is free to install.

Of course, there wasn’t a whole lot to look at yet but these apps hint at whats to come.

If you haven’t downloaded Windows 8 yet, no worries! Here is your first look at the Windows 8 app store.

The app store scrolls horizontally and begins with a Spotlight section for some of the best apps.

The apps that made it into the spotlight section were winners of a first apps contest.

As you scroll to the right, next up is the games and social section.

Then apps that fall into the entertainment or photos category.

Followed by music & videos and books & reference.

After that there are apps for news and weather and food & dining.

Then there are shopping apps, travel apps, and finance apps.

And finally there are productivity, tools, and security apps.

One of the apps that were spotlighted was this CookBook app that has over 200,000 recipes.

Another spotlight app is Physamajig, a cool app that lets you draw and create animations and simulations.

SigFig Portfolio is an app that tracks and analyses your investments and gives you recommendations.

This weather app lets you track the weather in multiple cities and the background images correspond to the weather.

Music match is a cool concept for an app. It features the lyrics to top songs in the U.S. and other countries around the world.

Photovault lets you glance at stunning photos in various categories.

Here's an example of a photo featured in the app.

American Airlines has developed this travel app called The Tower. The app helps you manage flight information.

Puzzletouch is a really fun app that lets you solve digital puzzles. It was one of the top rated games in the app store.

There are three levels of difficulty Puzzletouch lets you choose from. Here's an example of an easy puzzle for the game.
