Colts owner Jim Irsay dropped a bit of a bombshell on Twitter when he suggested that Peyton Manning could still play in 2011.
8 weeks til xmas, less than 100 days til Super Bowl. Peyton’s healing well, maybe he’ll take a snap [before] the ball falls in NYC, New Year’s Eve!…The best scenario is #18 comes back BIG TIME…No one’s gonna rush Peyton back until he’s 100 per cent healthy, but we’d love [to see] him play in 2011 if he’s completely back [and ready to go]
The Colts also announced that Manning will remain on the active roster during the season. That move will at the very least allow Manning to practice at the team’s facilities during the season, but also opens the door to the possibility of playing later in the season.
This is certainly good news for a Colts team that is now 0-8 without Manning. Then again, it could be horrible news if you are a Colts fan hoping for a shot at drafting Andrew Luck in the 2012 draft.
