This is a serious question:
WHY THE HELL IS IT THE BUSINESS OF THE US HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES HOW THE NCAA HANDLES ITS COLLEGE FOOTBALL BOWL SYSTEM?
Sadly, it’s not a joke that legislation is coming before the House to institute a playoff system.
Now, full disclosure, I’m a huge fan of the BCS, both because it favours the conference (The Big 12) of my Alma Mater (The University of Texas at Austin) and because I think a playoff system would make each Saturday less exciting. But this has nothing to do with the complaint here.
Of all the things they’re spending they’re taxpayer-funded time on, how is this even in the universe of being a priority?
D’ya think that maybe financial reform, the deficit, the education system, infrastructure, job loss, and healthcare might be a wee bit more important? None of those are getting better, nor are they even close.
Every politician involved with this stupid proposal needs to be voted out, except that, sadly, we’re guessing their constitents are in areas where universities are screwed by the current system, so their voters will probably love it.
