Tuesday night, the night before Yahoo fired 2,000 people yesterday, Yahoo CEO Scott Thompson gathered a group of his top executives and chewed them out for putting the company in that position.Apparently, Thompson has meetings like this quite frequently.
A source of ours has been in one of them, and told us what it was like:
“He’s done a series of these meetings with people, groups of 30 to 100 people.
In every one of them, he basically says nothing gets done here at Yahoo and you’re all responsible.
He says you haven’t accomplished anything.
Everyone looks around and says [to themselves] f— you a–hole.
He starts every meeting by integrating somebody in the meeting.
People go to a meeting and you sit down and he says to you: that’s an ugly outfit you’re wearing, or he says to you ‘you’re not running your business very well.”
He starts every meeting by making fun of somebody or denigrating somebody.
I don’t know if he means it meanspirited.
Everybody’s sort of looking at each other like…what?”
