Westboro Baptist Chuch To Protest Murdered Norwegians' Funerals

In a press release on their website, Westboro Baptist Church, notorious for using the funerals of soldiers to protest homosexuality, have announced they intend to picket the funerals of the victims of last month’s Norwegian terror attacks.

Terrible, but sadly predictable.

A chief of staff with the Oslo police district, Johan Fredriksen, says that “if they go through with what they are threatening, I can only certify that this is one of the worst ideas in the world at the moment.”

It remains unclear if the group would be allowed into Norway — they were refused entry to the UK in 2009 and (as the Atlantic Wire notes) the Norwegian penal code contains the text:

“Any person who wilfully or through gross negligence publicly utters a discriminatory or hateful expression shall be liable to fines or imprisonment for a term not exceeding three years.”
