Last night, the New Jersey Nets’ Deron Williams poured in 57 points against the hapless Charlotte Bobcats.
The 57 points is the most in the NBA since Kobe Bryant scored 61 back in 2009 against the New York Knicks. Williams is also just the seventh player since the 2000-01 season to score at least 57 points in a game.
Williams reached 57, thanks in large part to being 21-for-21 from the free throw line. He is just the second player to ever take at least 21 free throws and make every one. In 1992, Dominique Williams was 23-for-23 from the line (he scored 42 that night).
