For once, Barack Obama and Mitt Romney found themselves in full agreement — even if it was on the unlikeliest of topics. In taped appearances for the opening segment of Wednesday night’s CMT Music Awards, the president and Republican Party candidate agreed that two people should host the Awards.
The lucky pair? Country music singer Toby Keith and actress Kirsten Bell.
In the first half of the segment, a serious Obama contemplates what he jokingly calls “one of the toughest decisions I’ve had to make since I’ve been in office,” before coming to a conclusion. Circling “Keith” and “Bell,” Obama tells the cameraman, “I want them both.”
For Romney’s segment, the former Massachusetts governor suggests that both Keith and Bell host the show, before boasting, “See, I just put two people back to work. You’re welcome, America.” It was one of the rare moments where audiences were able to witness a more loose side of the likely Republican nominee.
