Last November, the actor, musician, and author Macaulay Culkin enlisted the help of the internet to choose a new middle name using a poll on his lifestyle website, Bunny Ears.
With a whopping 60,900 votes, “Macaulay Culkin” won by quite a landslide. “TheMcRibIsBack” came in second, with 14,558 votes.
On December 25, Culkin tweeted the winning name.
“My new middle name has been chosen,” he said. “You voted and the winner is clear. In 2019 my new legal name will be: Macaulay Macaulay Culkin Culkin.”
It is now April, and Culkin has yet to officially announce his name change – but he tweeted that ‘it’s happening’
It's a surprisingly hard process, but yes it's happening. I have to go down to the courthouse to do it.

On Thursday, an inquiring mind reached out to the “Home Alone” star on Twitter, asking if he had actually changed his name yet.
“It’s a surprisingly hard process, but yes it’s happening. I have to go down to the courthouse to do it,” Culkin responded.
In November, voters chose one of 5 monikers to be Culkin’s middle name
“My middle name is something dumb. Larry? Orange? Honestly, I can’t even remember it,” Culkin – whose middle name is currently Carson – wrote on his website. “So I asked you all to send in some better options so I can go down to the court house and explain to a judge why I need to change my middle name to something cool.”
The four other options were “Shark Week,” “Kieran” (suggested by Culkin’s brother Kieran), “TheMcRibIsBack,” and “Publicity Stunt.”
‘I should probably spruce up my name a little bit’
“I was staring at my passport recently and stuff, and I was looking over my middle name,” Culkin told the “Tonight Show” host Jimmy Fallon in November.
“And I felt like, you know, I should probably spruce up my name a little bit,” he added.
Culkin also mused that having “Macaulay Culkin” as his middle name would inject a bit of fun into his interactions with fans.
“So if somebody comes up to me at the airport and says, ‘Excuse me, are you Macaulay Culkin?’ I go, ‘Well, Macaulay Culkin is my middle name,'” he said.
Though Culkin said he had never watched any part of Shark Week, an annual shark-themed TV sensation, he told Fallon that he found “TheMcRibIsBack” to be a decent option.
“Look, it is back,” Culkin said, adding: “I just tried one finally. It’s a McRib. I mean, it’s certainly back.”
McDonald’s did not immediately respond to INSIDER’s request for comment on the poll.
The poll was open until Christmas Eve
Fans had until Christmas Eve to cast their vote.
Culkin seemed eager for a change, writing on his website, “Sure, I might have gold plated watercraft, and chrome plated invisibility cloaks, but all I want for Christmas is a new middle name.”
