Michael Morse of the Washington Nationals appeared to hit a first inning Grand Slam this weekend. But the umpires ruled it was not a home run and he was subsequently thrown out trying to retreat to first base. The umpires then went to the replay and determined it was a home run.
And that’s when things got weird.
The umpires, apparently unsure who had touched what bases, made all the runners return to their bases, and sent Morse back home to re-start his home run trot, more than three minutes after hitting the home run. He even simulated his swing without a bat.
