Steve Ballmer dunked a basketball and 19,000 people won a free pair of shoes

The Los Angeles Clippers beat the Brooklyn Nets at home on Monday night, and at halftime the team unveiled a new mascot that looks somewhat like a toucan.

But the real story of Monday night was Clippers’ owner Steve Ballmer, who used a trampoline to successfully dunk a basketball in slacks and a polo during the halftime ceremony.

In a surprise to nobody, Ballmer went absolutely bonkers after throwing down the two-handed jam.

Ballmer is a lot of things: the former CEO of Microsoft, the most emotional owner in NBA history, and also a billionaire, to name a few. Now he can add “successful dunker of a basketball” to his resume.

Associated Press photographer Mark J. Terrill took a couple of amazing photos of the moment.

And the celebration.

Congrats, Steve. And congrats to fans in attendance at last night’s game. With the successful dunk, Ballmer bought all fans in attendance a new pair of Converse sneakers, the same type of sneakers being worn by the new mascot.
