Seahawks Find Odd Way To Seal Victory By Intentionally Taking A Safety

With a six point lead with less than a minute remaining, and facing fourth down deep in their own end, the Seattle Seahawks pulled off a brilliant move by faking a punt and having the punter intentionally run out of the endzone.

The ploy cut the lead to four points, meaning the Panthers still needed a touchdown to win. However, instead of the punter kicking from his own five yard line under a heavy rush, he instead got to punt from the 20 uncontested.

Of course, if the punter fumbles the snap and the Panthers land on the ball, it suddenly doesn’t look so smart. But that didn’t happen, so we get to call Pete Carroll a genius!
