We will forgive you if you weren’t watching the end of the overtime “thriller” between Louisiana-Lafayette and Western Kentucky. But if you did, you saw the basketball equivalent of the “5th down” (via Timothy Burke)
Louisiana-Lafayette scored the winning bucket on a drive to the basket with just 3.6 seconds left in overtime. There was just one problem. When the teams came back from a timeout just before the winning basket, Louisiana-Lafayette had six players on the floor. There even appears to be some confusion on the part of the players, but they did a good job of just “going with it” and not alerting the officials.
