The decisions that guide the NFL — ranging from today’s headlines to events fans haven’t considered yet — all happen at the NFL’s headquarters on Park Avenue in New York: four floors of a glimmering high-rise that gets lost in the Manhattan skyline, a glass-and-steel monolith hiding among Midtown’s leviathans.
The NFL moved into this space last fall, and every inch of it looks expensive. The interior design is sleek and streamlined, thoughtfully created to represent the business side of America’s most popular sports league. Flatscreen TVs show NFL highlights on loop. Murals depict players as larger than life, titans in high-definition. The receptionist’s desk is cut out of a chrome football, a design so outlandish that it could only belong in the spacious entryway that displays the Lombardi trophy and every Super Bowl ring.
