If you paid close attention to wide receiver Victor Cruz’s celebration after his 74-yard score put the New York Giants up 7-0 this past Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys you would’ve heard salsa music for a few seconds.
No, your ears weren’t playing tricks on you, nor did Giants Stadium decide to go all-in on the Cruz love fest.
The music came from NBC’s Sunday Night Football production truck, an NBC Sports producer told Deadspin.
NBC planned on using it during a Cruz celebration as long as it didn’t come on a crucial play or if the Giants were losing big. Announcers Chris Collinsworth and Al Michaels had no idea it was coming, which as you can see in the video, likely explains why they didn’t say anything about it.
We wonder how Bob Costas felt about this.
