Verizon released a list today of a handful of Android devices it says will get the latest version of Google’s mobile OS, Ice Cream Sandwich.Based on all the Android phones Verizon has churned out over the last year and change, the list of devices is pitifully small.

Verizon’s announcement says this is only the upgrade schedule for 4G LTE devices, but it looks like some 3G devices are on the list, too. Weird.

Either way, you’ll notice a lot of major Android phones and tablets missing. Here’s the list:

  • HTC ThunderBolt
  • DROID Incredible 2 by HTC
  • HTC Rhyme
  • HTC Rezound
  • Motorola XOOM
  • DROID 4
  • Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1
  • Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7
  • Spectrum by LG

In typical Android fashion, we have no way of knowing when Verizon and its hardware partners will release the Ice Cream Sandwich update for these devices.

Google released Ice Cream Sandwich almost four months ago, and almost all Android device owners are still waiting for their upgrades. Meanwhile, some who bought their phones as recently as a year ago will never get Ice Cream Sandwich.
