At least 10 dead and 15 injured after a van ploughs into pedestrians in Toronto

At least 10 people are dead and another 15 are injured after a van ploughed into pedestrians on a sidewalk in Toronto, Canada.

Some of the injured are in a critical condition.

Police later found the Ryder rental truck and arrested 25-year-old Alek Minassian from Richmond Hill.

It was not immediately clear what caused the van to strike the pedestrians, although a law enforcement official told CNN the incident is believed to have been deliberate.

Police did not identify the driver.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau expressed his sympathies for those involved.
