US Online Video Ads Will Be A $9 Billion Market By 2016

The U.S. online video ad market is important and growing. We are forecasting that online video ad revenue will reach just over $9 billion by 2016; a five-year CAGR of 35 per cent from revenues of $2 billion last year.

Our forecast is driven by two key assumptions:

  • Video ad technologies keep on scaling and improving. Google just released AdWords for Video last week, for example.
  • Viewers continue to migrate to long-form, high quality content. Longer videos host more ads and tend to attract the sort of big ticket advertisers that will underpin the market’s growth.
