Unruly Media has closed a $25 million Series A funding round amidst the Google-sponsored post news.Investors include Amadeus Capital Partners, Van den Ende & Deitmers, and The British Growth Fund.
Unruly is behind a video platform that has delivered 1.34 billion video views and carried out more than 1,400 video campaigns for brands like T-Mobile, Adidas, and Old Spice since its founding in 2006.
Unruly is the same company that Google used to violate its own standards. Google contracted Unruly to produce posts praising Google Chrome.
The company’s proprietary technology is called RAMP, short for “Real-time Amplification and Measurement Platform,” which manages the lifecycle of its video campaigns.
The company also maintains the Viral Video Chart, a sort of “Billboard Top 100” for viral videos.
