A former U.S. attorney is investigating how the University of Colorado handled the man accused of killing 12 in an Aurora, Colo. movie theatre. The school hired attorney Robert Miller, who began his investigation last week, to look into how the university reacted to signs of possible danger from James Holmes, who was in its medical program, CNN reported Friday.
Lynne Fenton, James Holmes’ psychiatrist, sensed possible trouble in June.
Fenton warned University of Colorado behavioural Evaluation and Threat Assessment members that Holmes could be a threat to others.
But while Fenton’s concerns reportedly surfaced six weeks before the Aurora shooting, the BETA team never took action because Holmes was already in the process of dropping out.
It is unclear when Miller will finish the investigation of the school or how much information about it will be released, according to CNN.
