The UK is considering all options after growing increasingly concerned with Iran’s nuclear program, reports the Guardian.Despite some reservations within the British government, the UK has said that if the U.S. decides to attack Iran over its nuclear policy, it would receive the country’s support. British military planners are reportedly discussing where best to station warships in the coming months in anticipation of an attack being launched.
The Associated Press reports that harsher economic penalties against Iran were passed by a House of Representatives Committee today. The UK’s Ministry of Defence now believes that America may speed up plans for a strike on Iran.
The Guardian reported that government officials have previously said they do not wish to be drawn into a new military engagement before the next U.S. Presidential Election. However, they also conceded that the country may be drawn into a conflict if the U.S. attacked.
The publication added that some government officials believe that Iran may be able to hide all material needed to make nuclear weapons in fortified bunkers within 12 months. The Ministry of defence told the paper that it had already begun considering the various military options that existed against Iran.
