Heavyweight boxer Tyson Fury believes Conor McGregor will annihilate Floyd Mayweather in a single round.
Mayweather is the overwhelming favourite to beat McGregor on August 26 in Las Vegas.
He is undefeated in 21 years, while UFC star McGregor has never competed in a professional boxing match.
Former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson thinks McGregor “will look ridiculous” boxing Mayweather. Former world champion boxer Ricky Hatton added: “I think Floyd would stop him.”
Fury thinks differently. “I think McGregor will do him inside one round,” he told iFL TV.
McGregor is a renowned power puncher and has knocked out 18 of his 24 opponents in mixed martial arts.
The 28-year-old has even scored 13 one round knockouts, the most recent of which was a 13-second victory over long-reigning UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo in 2015. It was this victory that propelled McGregor into superstardom and Fury anticipates a similar performance against Mayweather.
“I think Conor McGregor will knock him out in the first 35 seconds, much like he did to Jose Aldo to be honest. Come on, McGregor!” he said. “It would be great for boxing if McGregor chinned him… it would be great for the real people of the world.”
