This App Is So Good It Made Jack Dorsey Ditch Instagram

Snapseed encourages you to get grungy with your photos or add some drama to make them pop.The photo app from Nik Software aims to make photo editing simple and is full of features that let you do everything from selectively adjust portions of the photo, rotate/straighten, centre focus to grab attention, and much more.

Snapseed is engaging too, sharing unique photos with others has never looked better.

And tech bigwigs are taking notice. Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey recently left Instagram and started using Snapseed instead.

Snapseed is available for iPhone and iPad for $5.99. An Android app is on the way.

The app is also available for Mac and Windows for $19.99.

The app opens to a sample photo, but this is what the main interface looks like.

Seconds later an instruction filter pops up. Tap the upper left corner to select a photo

Choose to snap a picture on the spot or pick from your phone's photo library.

After you choose your photo, select from adjustments and options to enhance your photo.

More instructions on what to do. Sliding up and gives you choices and sliding right to left lets you increase or decrease.

colour correction is available to get the perfect amount of light.

Keep track of just how much you are correcting with this handy bar at the bottom.

Brightness, contrast, and saturation are all available in the selective adjust section.

You can choose a specific section of the photo to edit. In this case we wanted to increase saturation on the rusty vent.

If you notice your photo is crooked, you can adjust it by using the straighten filter. Be artsy and tilt it.

Adding a frame around your picture is a feature we don't see enough of.

Textures give your photo a different feel...

Snapseed is a fantastic new app that has certainly gained the attention of many. The interface is easy to understand and very intuitive. Being able to compare the edited photo to original is helpful too. While $5.99 is a stiff price for some, photo aficionados won't mind shelling out the cash for such an excellent photo editing resource.
