Twitter’s simultaneous blessing and curse is that you can instantly blast a message to a huge follower base. While this instant transmitting and receiving of information can be very useful, it also has the potential to be really annoying.
Here are some suggestions on what not to do to your Twitter followers:
- Retweet people endorsing or praising you. Have enough faith that people who are following are already on your side and don’t need to be won over.
- Use lots of abbreviations. That sux. U no wut I mean?
- Tweet too often. This is a pretty subjective aspect. Everyone interacts with Twitter differently, but let’s be honest–you know when you’re overdoing it for your crowd. You don’t need to tweet every Foursquare checkin or filtered Instagram shot of your lunch.
- Take every opportunity to humblebrag. A humblebrag is what happens when you boast about your life while balancing it with a little bit of “woe is me” sentiment. For example, this tweet from model Adrianne Curry: “Also trying to figure out what career I should go for when I am done. Schooling will be a must, I have no college. Ugh, stupid modelling.”
