Tumblr’s search for an executive to lead its advertising, revenue generation and brand partnership efforts has entered at least its fifth month, the company tells us, even as it rolls out new campaigns for clients like Adidas.The artsy blog platform began selling sponsored spots in May that appear inside users’ dashboard displays (the so called Tu mbr Radar and Tumblr Spotlight sections that suggest cool new blogs to users who might not normally encounter them). Minimum buy-in for those spots is $25,000. Clients have also included Lionsgate’s Hunger Games movie.
But Tumblr has done all this without a specific executive tasked with developing relationships with brands and advertisers. In February, we reported Tumblr was searching for an executive to provide “leadership” on revenue products and partnerships.
That search is ongoing, a spokesperson says.
