For ages, all Boeing aircraft have been picked up at the 60,000 square foot Everett Delivery centre in Washington. Now, according to CNET, Boeing is breaking ground on an all new delivery centre in Everett that is three times the size.
The delivery centre is the finishing point for planes. It’s where they are painted, fuelled, and go through the final pre-flight checks before taking to the skies.
At 180,000 square feet, the new facility will be much larger and more luxurious. Boeing will still use it to deliver planes but it may also be able to serve other functions as well.
Boeing projects that the facility will be complete in 2013. But judging by production delays on recent aircraft, we have a feeling it may open a good bit later than that.
