The winningest manager in Cardinals history will leave the game the way most people dream – on top.
LaRussa, 67, has managed St. Louis since 1996. The 2011 World Series was his second championship with the club and third overall in his 33-year managerial career.
UPDATE: LaRussa has officially announced his retirement at a press conference in St. Louis.
“It’s time to do something different,” he said.
