I know Kim Kardashian and her sisters well since 2006 – She’s attended many 5WPR events and they are great, smart, attractive women. I was saddened for Kim when I read a few minutes ago she was getting divorced.

She has been genius at how she has built her brand – and really done an amazing job becoming a household name.  That said, I was surprised for many reasons she made the divorce announcement on a Monday AM – when she knows the news cycle means this announcement will last the whole week (rather than over the weekend when it may die by Monday).  If Kim had wanted to make the announcement this week – had she waited 24 hours until Tuesday PM, the deadline for this weeks’ celebrity weeklies would be over – and she’d miss the negative news coverage sure to ensure.

Her husband has already said he was shocked and he’d do anything to try and make the marriage work.  “Thank G-d Charlie Sheen exists,” – That was Pete Wentz’s quote when Charlie Sheen’s public antics took attention away from his split with wife, musician Ashlee Simpson.

So, what’s the Kardashian kicker? Her mother, Kris Jenner is releasing her first  book tomorrow – Tuesday, November 1.  Think this will make it even more enticing to the media? I most certainly do – even after Jenner’s tantalising statement today that “I could have saved Nicole Brown’s life” about OJ Simpson’s murdered wife.

I think the Kardashian brand will continue to thrive – she’s done an amazing job and will continue to – but timing is everything, and by making this announcement today the Kardashian family cash register will continue to ring.
Kim Kardashian sold the rights to her wedding for $17.9 million. Her marriage lasted 72 days which comes to $10,358.80 per hour. Wow.
