American food giant Campbell Soup today put its international division, which includes Australian biscuit maker Arnott’s, the maker of Tim Tams, up for sale.
The company has decided to focus on Campbell Snacks and Campbell Meals and Beverages in its core North American market.
Arnott’s, which started in 1865 as a small bakery near Newcastle, north of Sydney, makes Tim Tams, Shapes, Iced VoVos, SAO, Vita-Weat, Salada and Tiny Teddys.
The big Amercian group took full control of Arnott’s in 1997.
Campbell has engaged Goldman Sachs and Centerview Partners to help sell its Campbell International and Campbell Fresh businesses with sales of $US2.1 billion.
