We write about a lot of classic Ferraris that come up for auction. This one is decidedly different.

An ultra-rare 1957 250 TR Prototype, it could bring in $15 – $20 million at Gooding & Co.‘s Pebble Beach sale next month, shattering the world record.

This is the car that started it all as the prototype and test-bed for the legendary Testa Rossa line, arguably the most successful series of sports racing cars in history.

The example on offer has been raced at all of the major events worldwide including Sebring, Nurburgring and Le Mans.

Ralph Lauren has one just like it.

Actually, this one’s a lot nicer than his.

You can tease him about after you win the bidding….
