James Bond would approve of this security device. This Biometric Wallet ($825) from Dunhill comes fully equipped with a finger print scanner and an alarm to ward off theft, according to trends site ThatsLikeWhoa.
Owners open the wallet with the touch of a finger, and can link the device via Bluetooth to their mobile phone to sound an alarm when the wallet ventures more than 5 meters from their side.
Constructed from highly durable carbon fibre, Dunhill said the wallet’s nearly impossible to open and was built to withstand normal wear and tear.
Identity theft is one of the fastest-growing crimes in the world, with crooks finding it easier than ever to pilfer everything in our wallets, thanks to cheap RFID scanners they can purchase online. With account fraud taking a couple weeks or up to several years to clear, according to YM contributor Brian Reed, it’s no wonder we’re willing to shell out so much to protect our finances.
If you long for a Biometric Wallet but your budget’s too tight, check out the slightly cheaper version, the I-Wallet, which retails for $600.
