Now there’s a fantasy game for the money brains who’d rather place bets on tomorrow’s Dow ratings than how many layups Jeremy Lin will score.Yahoo! Finance and TD Ameritrade just launched the Fantasy Finance game, a 12-week online trading war room that pits business savvy players against one another to score a $50,000 jackpot.
Here’s the lowdown: Each player gets $100,000 in virtual money that he or she is free to “invest” in a range of U.S. stocks and ETFs. The game tracks investors’ progress and awards them points along the way. It also includes daily quizzes that can net players up to $100 in additional cash.
At the end of 12 weeks, the player with the highest total portfolio wins the big prize: a cool 50 grand. But just to keep things interesting, the game doles out weekly prizes of $1,000 for the highest earner.
Who can play: Anyone 18 years and up.
Deadlines: The game kicked off March 5, so you have until Friday, March 9 at 4:01 p.m. EST to qualify for Week One. You’ve got until Friday at 4:01 p.m. EST to sign up to be eligible for each week.
To be eligible for the grand prize, you’ll have to register and set up your portfolio by April 20 at 3:59 p.m. EST and be active in the game for all five weeks (with at least on stock in your portfolio).
Check the game’s terms and conditions for a full list of rules.
