The New York tech scene just got another VC ready to throw some cash after good startups. He is Jonathan Teo.

Boston-based firm General Catalyst just hired him away from fancy SIlicon Valley VC firm Benchmark Capital.

Teo used to work at Google as a member of the strategy and ops team. He was also an engineering manager for a time. Once, he spent a while setting up Google’s R&D centre in Shanghai.

“New York’s start-up culture is booming, and there’s so much brilliant talent that it’s attracted one of the Valley’s rising stars,” says Joel Cutler, managing director of General Catalyst Partners.

“We’ve been very active in New York for some time and with the increasing number of promising tech startups in the city, the time is right for General Catalyst to be there.”
