News aggregator site Techmeme has ranked the top tech stories of the past year — and it’s no surprise that Steve Jobs has a commanding presence in the tech world.The site ranks the most important news stories based on how many news organisations have reported on the news (as well as a number of other metrics.) It compiled a list of the top stories based on the “height” of each story: literally how much space was allocated to a story on the site.

There are a few surprises, but the most stunning image is just how many stories there were surrounding Steve Jobs.
