Good luck getting home on time for turkey this Thanksgiving if you’re flying out of Chicago Midway airport. The airport was ranked by Travel + Leisure this month as the worst in the nation for delays.
Gleaning stats from the Bureau of labour Statistics over a 12-month period, the magazine ranked the best and the worst airports for delays.
Here’s what they found:
Better bring a book (or two). Nearly 30 per cent of all flights out of Chicago Midway were delayed, making it the riskiest bet for travellers on a time crunch.
The airport was closely followed by Baltimore/Washington International Airport, which saw 23.2 per cent of its flights delayed, and San Francisco International Airport, which ticked off passengers with delays on 22.4 per cent of its flights.
The best of the worst were Hartsfield Jackson-Atlanta airport (20.1 per cent delayed) and Denver International (20.1 per cent).
Your best bet. Sea-Tac Airport (Seattle/Tacoma) nabbed the top spot with the least delays (13.1 per cent). The top three were rounded out by Portland International (13.5 per cent) and Reagan National (13.7 per cent).
