Is a LinkedIn profile going to replace the model look book?Probably not, but the profiles of these six non-model professionals were plucked from the masses on LinkedIn to model in ads for Buick, White House Black Market, and Mustela in Marie Claire’s May “work” issue.
“We had three different companies who wanted to incorporate real women into their communications strategies,” Nancy Cardone, Marie Claire’s VP, publisher and chief revenue officer told Business Insider. “We saw LinkedIn as the perfect way to source the women.”
Marie Claire launched its Career Network on LinkedIn last year, and while the magazine sees it as a career network for women (and an easy group to poll for articles and quizzes), this is the first time that LinkedIn has been used as a modelling talent pool.
Mustella's ad focused on working mothers. It used quotes about work-life balance from LinkedIn's message boards.
