Dave Donatelli is putting his people in place to run HP’s new Enterprise Group.According to an internal HP memo issued yesterday and published by AllThingsD today, Donatelli consolidated several regional sales teams and moved around a bunch of senior VPs.
Leo Apotheker’s hire, Yves de Talhouët, could be pushed out. His new role is TBD.
The group was formed about a month ago when HP combined Donatelli’s existing unit, Enterprise Servers, Storage and Networking (ESSN), with HP’s Global Accounts Sales organisation.
But this may just be window dressing. It is supposed to be about HP streamlining itself. As AllThingsD, points out, the reorg leaves a bunch of people in their current jobs — most of them in Donatelli’s former ESSN unit. Mostly he moved around VPs under the new unit under his domain, global sales.
We’ll see if he’s got it right. This sales group seems to be in constant flux. About a year ago, the executive VP for enterprise Thomas Hogan left, replaced by Jan Zadak. Now Donatelli is in charge.
This isn’t the biggest org change HP is dealing with. At the same time as the Enterprise Group was formed, HP combined the PC group with its printer group to create a massive unit responsible for half of the company’s $125 billion in revenue.
