A huge fire has broken out in a factory in Sydney’s north in Hornsby.

Emergency services were called to the scene shortly before 6am this morning following reports of a fire at the pool chemical warehouse on Jersey Street.

Four people are currently being treated by paramedics for smoke inhalation while another 60 people have been evacuated from neighbouring premises.

“The smoke was a real concern because of the amount of chemicals in the building which would be sucked up into the smoke plume as the fire spread,” NSW Fire and Rescue Inspector Ron James told Ten News.

The smoke has since spread throughout Hornsby and Asquith.

The Pacific Highway has also been closed in both directions between Mildred Ave and Bridge Rd due to the incident.

Police have yet to determine the cause of the fire.
