In our view, the industry of the future in America is clear: Healthcare.
Thanks to demographics, the industry adds jobs month over month. It never had a down week throughout the recession.
But it’s not cool to like the healthcare industry, since it’s so dependent on government and demographics, and generally people hate the whole thing.
So what’s the hip, quasi-contrarian industry to like?
US domestic natural resources.
All the hip bears like Jeff Gundlach, Hugh Hendry, and Sean Corrigan talk about how great US domestic energy is.
Well… maybe it will be big. But it’s not bucking any cyclical trends for now.
Whereas the broader economy did added 66K new jobs, look what oil and gas extraction did. It fell.
And look, even in the good months, this thing is tiny. 3K jobs? Who cares.
