Britain's Biggest Newspaper Is Laughing At Australia's Lack Of Gold Medals

The Sun, the biggest-selling newspaper in the United Kingdom, has issued a challenge to Australia — in their own words, Australia “must didgeri-DO better!”

Apparently angered by an insult to Britain’s sporting prowess last week, the Murdoch-owned newspaper says:

It is a gentle two-fingered salute to big-headed Australians who predicted their countrymen would thrash our boys and girls.

The Aussies and the Brits have a historical sporting rivalry, particularly in sports such as cricket and rugby. Great Britain currently has 18 medals, while Australia only has 2, an unusually low count given the country’s recent history.
