The ex-mobster who was depicted in the most popular mob film of the 1990s died Tuesday at just 69.Henry Hill died in an LA hospital after suffering from a long-term illness, TMZ reported.
The ex-mobster played by Ray Liotta in “Goodfellas” belonged to New York’s Lucchese family from the 1960s and 1980s, NBC New York reported, noting that he helped with an aeroplane heist at JFK Airport in 1978.
But Hill switched sides in 1980 after a drug trafficking arrest, NBC New York reported.
He delivered testimony that led to 50 arrests and assumed anonymity under the witness protection program before reportedly being kicked out of the program for breaking the law again.
Hill had been trying to reconnect with estranged family members in more recent years, TMZ reported.
