A New York Times report revealing Hillary Clinton used a personal email account to conduct government business has introduced another setback to Clinton’s as-yet-unannounced 2016 presidential plans.
Just last week, it was revealed the Clinton Foundation accepted a $US500,000 foreign donation, in violation of an agreement Mrs. Clinton reportedly made with Obama aides.
It didn’t take long for one of Clinton’s potential 2016 opponents to weigh in on this latest transgression. This tweet was sent from Jeb Bush’s account Monday night:
That internet domain, jebbushemails.com, was registered in December 2014. Some time after that, Bush unloaded an enormous collection of emails he sent and received during his eight years as the governor of Florida.
While the gesture was seen as an act of political goodwill, it quickly backfired when it was later discovered many of those emails contained the private information — like addresses and social security numbers — of some Florida state residents.
It’s interesting to note that despite Clinton’s preference for using a personal email account to conduct state business, she had, at least at one point, touted the importance of transparency, as C-SPAN points out with this tweet:
The Times article provided an unexpected answer to this reporter’s unanswered questions:
As word of Hillary Clinton’s private email agenda spread on social media, political journalists took the opportunity to have some fun with it:
So is anyone taking bets on whether Hillary Clinton used an AOL address?

Rumour: Hillary Clinton’s Secretary of State email address was [email protected]

Of course, there will be no shortage of people who absolutely do not consider this a laughing matter. The Times report has certainly raised more questions about whether Hillary Clinton can withstand the continued political scrutiny that will come should she formally announce her 2016 presidential candidacy.
