The Director Of 'The Matrix' Is Now A Woman

There have long been rumours about the colourful personal life of Larry Wachowski, who, along with his brother Andy, wrote and directed “The Matrix” trilogy.

Now, in a featurette for their upcoming film “Cloud Atlas,” the pair have come out as a brother-and-sister unit.

“Hi, I’m Lana,” the woman formerly known as Larry says, introducing herself.

Below are before and after photos of Larry, now Lana, followed by the full clip.

After divorcing his wife Thea Bloom in 2002, Wachowski attended the Cannes Film Festival with a person the British tabloids deemed a “cross dresser.” Then in 2003, film journalist Dave Poland wrote of Wachowski undergoing a sex change.

“Every indication I have says that Larry Wachowski is now in the process of changing his sex,” Poland wrote in The Gothamist. “Dressing in public like a woman, taking female hormones and yes, having a sex change operation.”
