Touted as a police car “designed by law enforcement for law enforcement,” the Carbon Motors E7 was intended to be the police vehicle of the future. But now, the E7 may be serving a life sentence off the road.
Naturally, Carbon Motors is outraged. The CEO said that “this was a political decision in a highly-charged, election year environment.”
Since current police cars are based on standard Fords and Dodges, the E7 would have been the only model on the market made solely for police. With integrated lights and radios, the E7 was a sleek design.
It was also powered by a diesel engine, to give high fuel mileage and great torque off the line.
Without the loan, Carbon Motors will need to look for other sources in order to soldier on. It seems that will be a tall order.
