The Best Student Credit Cards: May 2012

I remember applying for my first credit card sophomore year of college, and the feeling of economic freedom that came along with it. It was a silvery foil Citi Dividend Platinum Select Card.

That first card led to a love/hate relationship with credit which eventually helped me found a popular credit card deals comparison portal three years ago.

If you’re a student in the market for a credit card, you’ll find some of Outlaw‘s top picks for May below, including my first credit card. Keep in mind, student credit cards are normally for those who are new to the credit game. If you already have an established credit history (previous credit card accounts, or perhaps a car loan), you may be better served by looking at the “regular” credit card offers out there – click here to see those.

While student credit cards are often easier to get approved for, they don’t normally have as many perks – nor as long of a 0% introductory APR period – as their non-student counterparts. Of course, after using your student card responsibly for a while and building up a steady payment history, you can apply for a better offer.
