The number of reasons to jailbreak your iPhone are growing and growing every day.Not only has it become so easy that your grandma can do it, but an incredible array of polished apps and tweaks are available that greatly expand the capabilities of your iPhone.
Many of the apps and tweaks we’ll show you do things Apple should’ve done in the first place (SnapTap lets you use your volume buttons to snap pictures), and some do things Apple will probably never do (Winterboard allows you to skin the entire iOS interface).
All of these apps can be installed through Cydia (which is, cleverly, Latin for a kind of worm that eats away at apples), which automatically gets installed when you jailbreak your iPhone.
Check out our list of the best jailbreak apps for your iPhone, and as always, jailbreak at your own risk.
BiteSMS is a fully featured SMS app that trounces Apple's built-in SMS app on every possible level.
It enables you to reply to texts without leaving your current app, and allows you to view a pop-up list of all unread messages. You can even schedule SMS messages to be sent at a specific time.
Also, BiteSMS fully integrates contact pictures and allows you to view individual message time stamps.

Every day, we raise our hands and thank developer David Ashman for giving us LockInfo, a tool that puts all the information you need on your iPhone's lock screen. Oh, and it kills the iPhone notification problem. Say goodbye to pop-ups on your lock screen. This app compiles a collapsible list of them all.
You can put Twitter or RSS feeds on your lock screen, notifications, favourites (to text or call), weather, missed calls, emails (which you can quick-view), text messages (which you can reply to without ever leaving your lock screen), and best of all--your calendar always at a glance.
With LockInfo, you can even make your unlock slider go invisible so you can see more appointments, emails, etc. Of course, the unlocking swipe motion still works to unlock your phone.
Lastly, another amazing feature of LockInfo is being able to create an Android-esque drop down called InfoShade that can contain notifications, unread texts, etc, that you can access any time you're using your phone.
Note: to reply to texts without leaving the lock screen, you must also have BiteSMS or QuickReply installed (also available on Cydia).

MyWi is a great way to create a customisable mobile internet hotspot for other smartphone or laptop users around you to use.
AT&T recently sent out letters and text messages to customers they are accusing of using this jailbreak app to tether (without the $20.00 tethering plan), but we can't think of any way they could single you out unless you're using more than 2GB per month in data or your data use is fluctuating greatly.
Use this one at your own risk (and in moderation), because it directly violates AT&T's terms of service.
Price: $20.00 from the Cydia store
One of the first jailbreak tweaks that's still hot today is Winterboard, a tweak for skinning your entire iOS interface.
Most of the themes you can download are pretty tacky, but there are definitely some sleek ones out there that rival Apple's standard iOS theme.
Winterboard also allows you to choose the size and number of icons you want per page, and how many icons you want in your dock.

SBsettings is an incredible tweak that enables you to access essential toggles like Wi-Fi on/off, aeroplane Mode on/off, 3G on/off, and more.
We have it set up so SBsettings launches when you hold your finger down on the iPhone's clock. Also, our iPhone's ringer switch is broken, so the ringer on/off toggle is incredibly handy.
Another great plug-in is 'Remove BG' which kills all apps running in the background so you don't have to manually hit the little red 'x' on each one in your multi-tasking tray.
You can download even more SBsettings plug-ins through Cydia.

Want to launch your texting app by holding down the status bar up top?
Want to launch the Camera by holding down the up-volume button?
These are just a few of the infinite customisations you can employ using Activator. Once you find some combinations that work for you, you'll wonder how you lived without it.
Our favourite Activator setting is launching SBsettings when you double tap the clock on your lock screen. This allows you to turn on aeroplane Mode or check your IP address in a pinch.

Use this app in conjunction with Activator and you can do just about anything on your device using only your voice.
For example, you can easily create a voice command that works within Voice Control (hold down the home button for three seconds). You can set up Calendar to launch when you say 'Calendar,' or Google.com to launch in Safari when you say 'Google'.
You can even set up a command so your device reboots when you say 'banana.' It's infinitely customisable, and it all works through the normal Voice Control screen.

SnapTap is an invaluable tweak that allows you to take pictures on your iPhone using either of the volume buttons (instead of the onscreen shutter button).
We all know how hard it is to tap the shutter button when you're holding the phone up with one hand, so we find ourselves using this tweak a whole lot.

This app enables you to view, edit, and move around files within your iPhone's ordinarily inaccessible file system.
iFile will uncompress ZIP files, edit text files, compress files for sharing, play music, and more.
This app is essential for any jailbreak power user, or anybody looking to use their iPhone as a 'thumb drive.'
Price: $4.00 from Cydia
This tweak is easy to install and requires no setup whatsoever.
All it does is remove the 12-app limit per folder, and allows you to scroll within the folder.

Once you install the Netatalk tweak, you can connect directly to your iPhone as if it were an external hard drive.
Connecting and browsing can get pretty slow, but it's one of the easiest ways to copy a bunch of pictures to your computer. You can even download a Netatalk (AFP) on/off toggle for SBsettings so you're not wasting battery when you don't need it.
Note: when you install Netatalk, you can connect to your iPhone through Finder on your Mac using username: root, password: alpine.
Make sure you follow this guide to change your password so others can't connect to your device.

This app tricks your phone into thinking it's on a Wi-Fi network so you can watch YouTube in high definition, make Facetime calls, and download apps that are bigger than 20MB.
Another amazing use for this app is being able to use VoIP apps like FaceTime over your 3G connection.
There is an SBsettings toggle as well so you can turn the feature on and off.
